The Girl With The Red Umbrella/Art and Poetry

Wow, I can't believe another year as gone by and 2013 is starting to unfold quite nicely I might add. This is my first post on this blog (hopefully not my last) for almost a year now and the subject is or rather the inspiration comes from a chance encounter with a traveler who I met at Old Woman Bay on Lake Superior last fall.
The day was overcast with a bit of rain coming down. I was set to take a few photos and noticed a couple walking on the beach with the girl holding a red umbrella. To make a long story short I approached the couple and asked the girl if she would go back down to beach and pose holding the red umbrella...she did and I managed quite a few shots. I received an email from her a couple of days ago with a request to view the photos...sadly the photo card went missing but this image of the "Girl with the Red Umbrella" started to emerge from memory and spilled out onto this small canvas...along with some words:

The Girl With The Red Umbrella
Sheltered from the elements
 under my umbrella
 Here at Old Woman Bay
I gaze out at the water
and see something way out on the horizon
I can't quite but my finger on it
but it's something we're all looking for
 Tenderness and love
There's Hope just past the next point.
