There's no shortage of Birch trees here in Northern Ontario. You'll find them in the most unusual places and at times they seem to grow right out of
the rock.
The "White Birch Series" celebrates this fragile yet incredibly resilient tree.
I used the wood from Northern Ontario White Pine to make the painted "Spiritual Medicine" cabinet and the painting is acrylic on 3-8"x10" canvas panels.
White Birch
clinging desperately
to a rocky shore line
in an endless day
and with only wind and sun
and the promise of
a warm spring rain
it will survive into
tomorrow
